News of the death of Heavy D hit me hard for the most ungenerous of reasons. We had age and body type in common. Much of his 1987 debut sounds dated now, but trust me, Heavy D was once a huge star. Time keeps on slipping'...

What were you doing over at 59th and Prospect Ave? I grew up around the corner from the building you shot this photo of. Went to grade school 2 blocks to the west. Know that 'hood' as well as any other in this town. I remember going to this building as a young kid when it was a neighborhood bar. On the other side of 59th was a corner drugstore (Robinson's) and next to it Paul's, a small grocery store where Mom shopped a great deal. Could bend your ear for hours about what it was like in the 1950's and throughout all of the 1960's.
I'm sworn to secrecy about why I was recently in that neighborhood, BGO. (Not kidding.) Let's set a firm date to get together.
HIB,
Is this bbq joint open still? And if so, know anything about the quality?
I don't know.
